cream gravy base
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup sour cream Added after cooking so the gravy stays smooth.
  • 1 ranch seasoning mix Use 1 packet.
  • 3 garlic Minced.
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp dried thyme
  • 0.25 salt and pepper To taste; season the chicken before cooking.
  • 1 mashed potatoes For serving.
  • 1 fresh parsley For garnish.

Method
 

Season and mix the gravy
  1. Season the bone-in chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and onion powder.
  2. Whisk the cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, ranch seasoning mix, minced garlic, and dried thyme together until smooth.
Slow cook until tender
  1. Place the chicken in the slow cooker and pour the gravy mixture over the top.
  2. Cook on Low for 5–6 hours, or High for 2.5–3 hours, until the chicken is fall-apart tender.
Finish the gravy and serve
  1. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and stir the sour cream into the gravy until smooth.
  2. Return the chicken to the creamy gravy, then serve over mashed potatoes with fresh parsley on top.

Notes

Pro tip: For the creamiest gravy, stir in sour cream after the slow-cooking time, not during. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days; rewarm gently to avoid breaking the sauce.
